Jamie Bodily MS, LPC

       Certified Birth Doula

       Certified Postpartum Doula

       Co-Owner of St. Louis Doulas

I am Jamie Bodily.  I am a Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula.  I’ve been a Doula for 16 years and feel passionately that women deserve respectful, compassionate, evidence-based care.  I have had the opportunity and blessing of helping over 200 families welcome a baby into their hearts and homes.  Even more than that, I have had the opportunity to help women find their strength, their voice, and a positive birth experience.  I have served as a private solo doula, a leader of a community-based program, and now as a co-owner of St. Louis Doulas. I am also a mother to 5 beautiful children.

I have been a Birth and Postpartum Doula since 2000. My goal with every family I have the opportunity to work with, is to honor and respect their choices, encourage discussion on evidence-based practices, and help them with the resources to achieve their birthing goals.  I honestly believe there is no one way to birth, and that every birth has the potential to be a positive, inspiring experience as a family meets and welcomes their baby.  My goal as a co-owner of St. Louis Doulas is to promote professionalism, encourage the building of bridges in our community between doulas and medical professionals, and to ensure high-quality support to each family we serve.  For the past three years, I have had the opportunity to work with medical students at St. Louis University in their Labor of Love elective.  In this elective, students have the opportunity to explore the current model of care, learn about emotional and physical comfort measures, assist clients in local shelters, and to shadow a variety of professionals in the birth field.

I continued my formal education to earn Masters’ degrees in Human Services and Mental Health Counseling.  I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor.  I provide counseling services focused on helping women through their reproductive years.  Women who have experienced anxiety and depression are at an increased risk for mood disorders during pregnancy.  By providing an opportunity for education, proactive strategies, and continuing support, these risks can be reduced.   I believe that even with all of our efforts to educate, support, and sustain women through this period of time, some experience traumatic births.  I have trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) through the Maiberger Institute in Boulder, Colorado.  EMDR is a specialized, highly effective therapy for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) to help women find peace and move forward from a difficult and traumatizing experience.

Wherever you are in your journey to motherhood, I am here to provide support, encouragement, and the information you need to have the best possible experience.  I look forward to hearing from you!!
