Certified Birth Doula
Certified Postpartum Doula
Co-Owner St. Louis Doulas
Hi, I’m Emily Webb, Provisionally Licensed
Professional Counselor and Certified Labor & Postpartum Doula. I
moved from Milwaukee to St. Louis in 2000, fresh out of high school, to attend
UMSL. I earned Bachelors degrees in psychology and social work, with
a focus in trauma, and in 2013 earned my Masters in Professional
Counseling. While working on my Bachelor's Degree, I met my awesome
husband, Phil, and we have been together for nearly 15 years. I have a
fabulous 7 year-old daughter, with whom I experienced the most wonderful
natural, hospital birth I could have hoped for. While I was excited to
share this after her birth, I found that some people did not believe me when I
told them that my labor was not that bad, and I would happily pursue another
natural birth if I had the chance. It was sad to learn that some women
found it too hard to believe that birth might not always be horrible and
excruciating. In 2010 I decided to learn more about birth work. I
was also beginning to feel the effects of burn-out as a social worker, and
decided to quit my job to begin a graduate program in counseling and work on my
doula certifications. I have found that I love serving as a birth
and postpartum doula, helping new and expecting families through the transition
of pregnancy & childbirth. My experience inspired me, because I knew
what I wanted, and it felt amazing to achieve it. My goal is to help
mothers understand what they want, and work to support their goals, whether it
be a medicated or unmedicated, home or hospital birth. I love incorporating
counseling into my work, because I believe that when parents take good
care of themselves, and their emotional health, they are at their best to
give that to their children.
I'm also an artist who loves to keep things interesting, so I have many other side projects to feed the creative part of my soul. I play around with maternity, birth, newborn, & children's photography, and it is always so much fun helping people capture amazing memories. I make natural soaps, lotions, & body products, which came about after I set a goal to rid my home of chemicals a few years back. I feel a bit like a mad scientist playing with my herbs and oils! I seem to pick up a new crafty project every few months, and I have spent time doing stained glass, sculpting, scrapbooking, jewelry making, and a whole lot more! In the fall of 2013, I found my tribe... the Burners, and I started playing with fire! I love the feeling of being so close to such a powerful element, and in the last few years I have learned to eat fire and play with many types fire toys! I am so grateful to all the people who have taught me and supported my many different ventures and interests.
I look forward to helping you and your family through any transition or struggle you may be facing, or simply supporting you in your joy, to make your transition a little easier. I provide non-judgmental support to help you make the changes you desire. I use an integrative, holistic approach to counseling, combining support, education, insight, and development of coping skills. I offer in-home counseling, as well as office visits.
I work with all populations, and offer treatment for any issue you may need to talk or work through. I specialize in adjustment and emotional wellness during pregnancy and postpartum, stress management, mindfulness, coping with trauma, hypnotherapy, and play therapy for children with autism and behavioral concerns. I hope to hear from you, and be a compassionate companion through whatever you may be struggling with.
