My interest in labor and postpartum began about 8 years ago, when my sister gave birth to my nephew at 26 weeks. He weighed in at 1lb 11oz, and spent quite a bit of time in the NICU. With a 16 month old at home, and a micro-preemie in the hospital, supporting my sister and brother in law back at home during such a trying time was a family effort. After working as a registry consultant at Babies R’ Us for three years, I decided to take my love of babies and helping people further.

I’m currently a Certified Labor Doula, and finishing up my Postpartum Doula certification, both through Doulabuilders. I provide Benkung Belly Binding, practice aromatherapy for birth workers, and teach baby wearing classes at local Babies R’ Us stores as well as Mindfulness for Birth classes at a local maternity shelter. I’ve taken a tongue tie and latch assessment course, and will soon be learning to do placenta encapsulation. I’d like to get my lactation counselor (CLC) and bereavement doula certification within the next 2 years.

I enjoy taking any class or workshop that expands my knowledge base. I feel for those parents that want or need help leading up to, during, and after baby arrives. Whether it’s talking out your plans for your birth and postpartum period, discussing and tackling your fears about labor and parenting, or desiring a knowledgeable companion or assistant during labor and after, I’m excited to help wherever you may need it!
